My mother-in-law keeps breaking one of the buttons on her garage remote:-
I've fixed this several times by using a heated blade to remelt the button tab onto the switch housing but the tab gets shorter, and weaker, each time.
When the button breaks it ends up inside the remote but I figured that if the button was deeper and fitted over the micro-switch, it should stay in place on its own, so I designed this replacement:-
This replacement fits loosely over the micro-switch and has a retaining lip to hold it within the casing:-
The remote reassembled :-
